Wayne Taylor Racing Andretti Autosport (WTRAndretti) has announced their four full-season drivers for the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
The team is currently competing with a single Acura ARX-06 GTP category, being run with Konica Minolta livery, with Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque as the full-season drivers, and will continue to be in 2024.
That pairing is currently leading the standings, and has done quite well at the endurance rounds, where Louis Deletraz has been third driver for the team. He will get a huge pat on the back, and will be upgraded to full-season driver on the second car for the team in 2024. The team will double up to two Acura ARX-06 cars, after they started a new collaboration with Andretti Autosport earlier this year.
But there aren’t many signs of Andretti with the drivers – at least not amongst the full-season drivers. The final seat will go to Jordan Taylor – the brother of Ricky, and son of team owner Wayne Taylor. Ricky and Jordan has previously won the DPi title in 2018, but it won’t be the first time for them to battle against each other, in the same category. They did so too, when Jordan raced for the family team, while Ricky was racing for Spirit of Daytona. They split up again in 2018, when Ricky got a works driver contract with Team Penske and their Acura program – a brand that he brought back to the family team in 2022, when Team Penske ended their Acura commitment in IMSA.
Jordan has run the past seasons for Corvette Racing i GTLM/GTD Pro category, but has missed racing in Prototypes. So it’s quite a big step for him to stop as GM works driver, and return to the family team.
The 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will start with the 24-hour race in Daytona in January.
